Superna ControlBox™ Awarded EHX MRAV Award for Best Digital Multi-Room System

Nov 12, 2005 SUPERNA, the first home automation company to fully leverage standard IP home networks, has won the prestigious Multi-Room Audio Video (MRAV) award for the SUPERNA ControlBox at the EHX Electronic House Expo held in Anaheim this past week. Newcomer SUPERNA beat out seven other firms, including AMX and Leviton for its network box, which enables consumers to connect legacy electronic devices to their home computer network for delivery of digital audio/visual content, lighting and HVAC control to any room in the house. Encoded media files are streamed from any computer connected to the home network to the ControlBox, where it is decoded and delivered to a TV screen and/or speakers. SUPERNA's desktop software provides easy configuration, management and personalized interface generation.

"The ControlBox converts any PC in the house into a media server and makes any electronic device part of the digital home," says Oded Vardi, SUPERNA's COO. "Our products are easier to install, afford and maintain than any other digital home solution. You can start with a one box/one room entertainment center and gradually grow the system to cover the entire house. Since it's all based on the existing home network, you can have it all at a fraction of the price of competing systems."

The ControlBox began shipping only a month prior to its tour de force at EHX. In addition to media streaming, it provides IR, Serial, Relays and I/O connectors to enable networked control of other home devices such as lighting and air conditioning.

All SUPERNA products are compatible with the UPnP ™ standard specifications, insuring seamless interoperability with Yahoo's MusicMatch, Microsoft's MCE, AOL's Winmap and the SUPERNA Media Manager. It supports the most popular media formats including MPEG, 1,2,4, WMV9 and others. The SUPERNA ControlBox is network agnostic, accommodating both hard wired and wi-fi home networks. It includes a dedicated companion chip, which renders HDTV quality decoding.
